MurCity is a strategy game based on chaining combinations of skills advantageously, as well as exploring a grid of other player-controlled hunters and computer-controlled bosses.


The game offers a story every 2 levels that the hunter (player's character) gains, as well as two tile types on the grid - story tiles, and dream tiles. MurCity's story is a commentary on the voice we never hear: the character we are controlling. Developers can involve the avatar or perceived character in a cinematic, but we don't really consider the avatar as any more than an extension of ourselves into the game world. I thought it'd be pretty interesting to narrate the avatar's experience!

Development-wise, MurCity was my chance to use all the cool technologies that were getting a lot of attention at the time: jQuery, AJAX logic, even rounded corners! Though admittedly I missed the bus on that one. ;) One of the things I'm most proud of is pulling off a borderless site on a black background, with the art that I used. The code is pretty solid, but there are some things I would change. With the design, I just love all of it. MurCity is a dark game, with a dark world, and I love what I've done with the concept!
